The production of scrap steel will increase

According to the statistical forecast of the scrap steel association, the total output of square steel pipe in China in 2019 is 240 million tons, an increase of over 20 million tons or 9% compared with the same period last year. Among them, iron and steel enterprises produced 0.4 million tons of scrap steel, accounting for 16.7% of the total resources; 200 million tons of scrap steel were purchased by the society, accounting for 83.3% of the total resources. Among the total resources of 240 million tons, 215 million tons of scrap steel were consumed in steelmaking, accounting for 89.6% of the total resources. The foundry industry consumes 18 million tons, accounting for 7.5% of the total resources.There are also nearly 10 million tons of steel bar head and crushing material used in the blast furnace into molten iron.

The ministry of industry and information technology attaches great importance to the comprehensive utilization of scrap iron and steel resources and actively promotes the healthy and sustainable development of cold rolled rectangular steel tube and steel processing industry. Since 2012, the ministry of industry and information technology has announced six batches of 252 scrap processing enterprises with a total processing capacity of more than 70 million tons. With the entry of the seventh approved enterprise, it is expected that the total processing capacity of the normative enterprise will exceed 100 million tons. At present, the quality inspection of scrap steel mainly relies on the visual inspection and inspection of the staff, there is no third-party certification, and there is a lack of intelligent mechanical equipment inspection, which is prone to quality objection and economic disputes. This requires steel pipe suppliers and scrap recycling and processing enterprises to strictly strengthen the selection and classification of social scrap, the high alloy scrap, stainless steel scrap for iron and steel enterprises to create good conditions.
