Difference Between Aluminum Magnesium Zinc Plated Pipe and Hot Galvanized Pipe

1. Definition
Hot-dip galvanized pipe is a black pipe through pickling and then transferred to the molten zinc tank, zinc and steel pipe surface reaction to generate zinc-iron alloy, so as to achieve the effect of corrosion protection.
Zinc Aluminum Magnesium tube is in the hot dip galvanized on the basis of the use of magnesium oxide, alumina, alumina zinc to protect the “target material”, supplemented by molecular condensate, to generate a new type of corrosion-resistant and corrosion-resistant magnesium-aluminum alloy layer of the steel pipe.

2.,the difference

Material differences: hot-dip galvanized tubes generally use low-carbon steel tubes as raw materials, while aluminized magnesium-zinc tubes usually use high-grade high-quality steel tubes as raw materials.
Difference in anti-corrosion performance: Compared with hot galvanized pipe, magnesium-aluminum alloy layer of aluminium-magnesium-zinc-plated pipe has stronger anti-corrosion performance. It is harder, more durable and more corrosion resistant under the same conditions.
Appearance differences: hot galvanized pipe is more monotonous, the surface is only zinc layer and grass-roots level, while aluminium-magnesium-zinc-plated pipe is brighter in appearance, with multiple coatings on the surface including zinc layer, zinc-aluminium-alloy layer, zinc-aluminium-alloy layer coatings and so on.
Scope of use: Aluminum-magnesium-zinc-coated tubes are mainly used in petrochemical, chemical fertilizer, steam transmission and other industries, while hot galvanized tubes are mainly used in construction, bridges and other industries.
3.the conclusion
Overall, although both types of pipe can achieve a certain anti-corrosion effect, but in some industries, such as petrochemical, chemical fertilizer, steam transport and other industries with high environmental requirements, the use of aluminium-magnesium-zinc-plated pipe will be more appropriate. But in some more common construction and bridges and other fields, the use of hot galvanized pipe is already enough. At the same time, the cost of aluminium-magnesium-zinc-plated pipes is higher, and the service life of hot-dip galvanized pipes may also be limited to a certain extent. Therefore, the choice of pipe should be based on the actual situation to determine the type of pipe required.
